The hermetic tradition and the magnetic tradition are not two separate histories: for much of the 18th and 19th centuries they were the same network of people. The same initiates who practiced animal magnetism belonged to lodges, Egyptian rites, Rosicrucian orders. Cagliostro, Brice de Beauregard, Szápáry, Wirth, Deleuze, Mirville: figures that academic historiography has artificially separated into "science" and "esotericism", but who operated in a single continuum.

Why a parallel hermetic wiki

The magnetic wiki reconstructs the line Mesmer → du PotetLafontaineDonatoParet Method. But this line has an esoteric twin: the initiatic transmission that starts from the Golden Rosicrucians, passes through the Avignon Illuminati and Cagliostro, crosses the Strict Templar Observance and the Convent of Wilhelmsbad, and arrives at "angelic magnetism", the technical codification of Szápáry and the symbolic reading of Wirth.

This hermetic section documents that twin, with cross-referenced hyperlinks: each shared figure links to their page in the other section.

Bridge figures (present in both wikis)

Figure Magnetic aspect Hermetic aspect
Cagliostro Magnetism in rituals, healing Egyptian Rite, quarantines, angelic magic
Brice de Beauregard Conflict with Lafontaine, reserved school "Angelic/enlightened magnetism", cabalistic manuscripts
Franz von Szápáry Founder of Magnetotherapy, codified techniques Initiatic heir of the Strict Observance
Oswald Wirth Student of du Potet's magneto-therapeutic society Hermetic symbologist, reading of the fluid as caduceus
Deleuze Magnetizer, theorist of the fluid "Spiritualist" magnetizers, communication with spiritual beings
Mirville Critic of materialist magnetism Mesmerism as "faith and prayer", pneumatology

Fundamental hermetic pages

The Szápáry cluster (the ISI-CNV school)

Count Franz von Szápáry is the figure who codifies magnetic-hermetic knowledge into teachable technique. His three operative doctrines:

The source: Boella, "L'Ascesa all'Olimpo"

Main documentary source: A. Boella & A. Galli, L'Ascesa all'Olimpo. Cagliostro e la tradizione ermetica nella massoneria — Drive ISI-CNV

The work of Boella and Galli examines the teachings of the High Degrees of various systems of hermetic Freemasonry, created in the mid-18th century by the Golden Rosicrucians, who infused them with hermetic, alchemical, and theurgic knowledge. The book is the documentary backbone of this section: its structure (Lenain → Illuminati di Avignone → System of Clermont → Golden Rosicrucians → Melissino → Von Starck → Knights of Asia → Wilhelmsbad → Unknown Superiors) is the framework of the hermetic wiki.

Relationship with the Paret Method

The Paret Method recognizes that authentic magnetism has two inseparable dimensions: the technical-operative (the gaze, the passes, fascination — documented in the magnetic wiki) and the initiatic-hermetic (transmission, sacred context, angelic dimension — documented here). Separating them, as 20th-century academic historiography did, means losing the understanding of what this tradition truly was.

The Awakening cluster (36 pages) — the doctrinal backbone

Starting from May 2026, a systematic cluster of 36 pages has been developed on the hermetic wiki that articulates the initiatic tradition along its major axes. The cluster is organized around three theme-axes and a series of historical-doctrinal filiations.

The three theme-axes of the cluster

  • Il Risveglio — the transversal theme-axis of the tradition: the passage from conditioned consciousness to Consciousness that precedes all conditioning. Table of 6 traditions × 4 phases (nigredo → albedo → rubedo → illumination)
  • Alchimia e Magnetismo — the structural relationship between internal alchemy and magnetism in Western hermetic traditions. Section XII.2 documents the Evolian-Reghinian "vital fluid" of 20th-century Italy as an explicit recovery of the 18th-century magnetic line
  • The chivalric tradition — chivalry as an initiatic practice of the rubedo in the world, a medieval-Templar path revived in Willermoz's RER as CBCS

UR-KRUR as a 20th-century Italian attempt to make traditions clear

The UR-KRUR Group (1927-1929) is — from the perspective of this wiki — not a separate island of the hermetic tradition, but the 20th-century Italian attempt to make operationally clear the sciences that previous lines had always transmitted in a hermetic-veiled manner. The Group worked explicitly to reunite within the space of three years of the journal (UR 1927, UR 1928, KRUR 1929) the diverse traditions of initiatic science and to expose their technical core in language understandable to the serious modern reader, without betraying the substance.

The UR-KRUR pages of the wiki cluster should be read therefore as a technical clarification of the preceding traditions — not as "another tradition". The correspondences are clear:

UR-KRUR therefore stands — in the cluster map — as a convergence node of eight centuries of European traditions, gathered at the moment when their hermetic language was about to become incomprehensible due to historical-cultural change, and retransmitted to the 20th-century reader in a language that, while preserving technical rigor, exposes rather than conceals. This is why the UR-KRUR Group is the obligatory passage point between the historical traditions of the cluster and the current formulation of the Paret Method-ISI-CNV: the School inherits the technical clarity of the Group, and integrates it with the science of neurological-corporeal presence (Presenza Integrale™) and contemporary integration.
