Polyvagal Theory and Magnetic Passes is a technique of the Paret Method in the polivagal category that integrates traditional magnetic passes with the modern understanding of the three autonomic nervous systems, acting directly on polyvagal regulation to release deep physical and emotional tensions.
Definition
According to the Paret method, Magnetic Passes activate the ventrovagal (social parasympathetic) system through precisely calibrated non-verbal movements. The technique leverages the anatomy of the vagus nerve, which controls three distinct states of the autonomic nervous system: the sympathetic system (accelerator), the ventrovagal system (social brake and social regulation), and the dorsovagal system (primitive archaic brake). The involuntary movements that emerge during the application represent the release of the dorsovagal, freeing deeply rooted energetic and somatic blocks.
When to use
- Release of chronic physical and emotional tensions
- Therapeutic regressions without verbalization
- Controlled and resolving mesmeric crisis
- Magnetic healing of localized pain
- Restoration of autonomic nervous regulation in states of sympathetic hyperactivation
- Deep non-verbal hypnotic induction
Components and steps
- Arkeos Induction: Closure of the senses through the basic Arkeos technique to prepare the nervous system
- Pass with thumb: Three passes from the vertex-center of the forehead down the nose to the epigastric fossa
- Pass with index finger: Three movements from the center of the eyebrows toward the epigastric plexus
- Pass with middle finger: Three passes from the center of the ears converging to the epigastric fossa
- Pass with last two fingers: Three movements from the lower jaw toward the epigastric plexus
- Connection of upper plexuses: Progressive work from top to bottom, closing the fist and reconnecting each plexal level to the one below (temples → [to be confirmed by Marco])
Distinctions
- vs classic Magnetic Passes: The polyvagal integration allows understanding and intentionally directing the three nervous systems, not just generic magnetism
- vs Magnetic Voice: Magnetic Passes operate exclusively in the non-verbal somatic realm, while Magnetic Voice uses tonality as a vehicle
- vs Regression simple magnetism: This technique is more anatomically structured and neurobiologically founded
Courses where it is taught

- Polyvagal Theory and Magnetic Passes (specialist course EN/RUS)
Notes
- Effectiveness depends on the precision of the plexal pathways and convergence toward the epigastric fossa; approximations reduce ventrovagal activation
- The client's involuntary movements (tremors, sighs, progressive relaxation) are indicators of correct application and dorsovagal release
- Relative contraindication: severe dissociative states not yet stabilized; require Marco Paret supervision
