Channels and Amplifying is a technique of the Paret Method in the category hieratic-hermetic methods that develops the ability to recognize, follow, and amplify the client's energetic and sensory channels in order to allow secondary processes to unfold naturally until they disappear.

Definition

In the Paret method, Channels and Amplifying designates the process through which the operator identifies the client's perceptual and somatic channels (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and deliberately amplifies them. The amplification is not mechanical, but consists of allowing the energetic flow to manifest fully, teaching itself through its own intensification. The technique works in a non-verbal manner and is part of the corpus of work with psychosomatic symptoms and secondary processes that are difficult to integrate consciously.

When to use

  • In the treatment of psychosomatic symptoms that present involuntary secondary movements or manifestations
  • When the client manifests embarrassing or unconscious secondary processes that tend to repeat themselves
  • To integrate the two realities of every bodily experience (e.g., itching and scratching, the stimulus and the response)
  • In the induction phases and work with limited reality and curved reality

Components and steps

  1. Recognition of channels: Identify which sensory channel (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) the client is using to manifest the symptom
  2. Observation of the flow: Follow the energetic movement without interrupting it, allowing "the flow to teach you"
  3. Gradual amplification: Expand the experience both by physically approaching and by intensifying attention
  4. Channel switching: If relevant (e.g., in the case of an auditory voice), identify the source and move towards it
  5. Integration of the two awarenesses: Work on primary and secondary awareness, making them interact
  6. Natural dissolution: Allow the symptom to unfold completely until its spontaneous disappearance

Distinctions

  • vs Simple Amplifying: [to be confirmed by Marco] — the aspect of channel switching and managing the two awarenesses is specific to Channels and Amplifying
  • vs Oculomotor Blockage: Oculomotor blockage acts as a preliminary induction technique; Channels and Amplifying is the subsequent operational work on already opened channels

Notes

  • The technique requires a highly developed non-verbal perception on the part of the operator; the common mistake is to verbally interpret what should instead be felt through the energetic flow
  • It is not necessary for the client to consciously understand what is happening; integration occurs at a somatic and unconscious level
  • [to be confirmed by Marco] — specific contraindications in cases of unprocessed trauma or severe dissociation
